The Village of Sherwood Forest is a themed subdivision of 65 custom
garden homes that will all feature homes with the timeless sophisticated
beauty of the English Tudor style of architecture. These classic garden
homes will all be built by Wes Pool, Inc. Custom Homes, an award winning
homebuilding company that has built hundreds of custom homes throughout the
D/FW Metroplex since 1980. Mr. Wes Pool, owner of the company, has decided
that the two classic subdivisions that serve as his inspiration for English
Tudor design are the homes of the "M" streets built in East Dallas in the
1920's, and the Kessler Park neighborhood in Oak Cliff with Tudors built
between 1910-1920. Homes restored in the "M" street neighborhood today
resell from $275,000.00 to $400,000.00 and in Kessler Park $275,000.00 to $375,000.00. Mr. Pool believes
strongly that if the home is first built with classic style in a classic
neighborhood, and if it's properly maintained throughout the decades, such as these two classic
Dallas neighborhoods, then the up-front investment in quality belies
investment rewards in the future. Sherwood Forest
is located next door to Crawford Park, Cedar Hill's finest, offering a
swimming pool, tennis courts, picnic, play ground and athletic fields. Sherwood Forest also has a private Homeowners Park inside the heavily treed
subdivision. Antique street lanterns, brick paver sidewalks, and antique mail boxes
adorn the streetscape in Sherwood Forest. The looped city street design
allows no pass-thru connector traffic, thus insuring the neighborhood maximum
privacy and security.
Sherwood Forest has a homeowners association with deed restrictions. The
repairs of the streets and utilities are maintained by the city and not
assessed to the homeowners association as in gated communities. However,
each residence will have a gated drive in Sherwood Forest. Gas and electric
appliances are featured in all Sherwood Forest Garden Homes. High pitched
gable roofs, living porches, brick and stonewalls, and rear alley-less
garages with Hollywood drives are just some of the standard features.
All
the custom homes in Sherwood Forest are built with concern over ever
escalating home energy costs. Therefore, all our homes conform to the new
International Energy Conservation Code that Cedar Hill adopted in 2003. Our Garden Homes
have higher insulation R values in the attics, Low E double pane
windows, and higher R values in wall insulation and materials. Sherwood
Forest, because of its Garden Home sizes, is intended to be a low maintenance,
low utility cost, and hopefully
low tax
community.
Exemplary Award winning Bray Elementary School serves Sherwood Forest.
Walk
2 blocks south, next to the Methodist Church, and you will see the Bray campus.
Highly ranked Cedar Hill High School is only 2 miles from the neighborhood. Also, Sherwood Forest will have a new neighbor soon. One block to the
east, a new police station is under construction adding even more security to
the neighborhood.
Sherwood Forest is not for everybody, only 65 families that have the
sophisticated taste for "Old World Architecture" can buy and live in one of
these classic garden homes. Who knows, maybe some day, eighty to ninety years
later, some builder might be using pictures of your Sherwood Forest Home as his
inspiration for homes built in the later half of the 21st century. |
